‘Gothic Lolita’ influenced western music video?

May 21, 2008

Kerli - Walking On Air

The outfits are very reminiscent of gothic lolita and i’m also getting super dollfie vibes from the dolls. The artist is an Estonian pop musician. (Which according to my world map is south of Finland across the Baltic sea). It’s interesting how cultures appropriate things, ie the japanese and victorian dress which are eventually taken again and adopted by another culture or introduced back to their culture of origin with a twist.

Mickey.tv

This wonderful site, powered by YouTube Developer APIs with Audioscrobbler produces “Weekly Top 100 Music Videos”" using the same database underlying Last FM. It relies on a tag system to produce lists of videos. It’s very accurate and a great way to explore new genres and get straight to the good stuff. I highly recommend giving it a look.
